VFX Art

A collection of my work pertaining to the VFX and commercial industries.

Shipley Energy

After Effects and Maya

This spot for Shipley Energy features two spokesbirds talking about Shipley Energy services. We were given the character designs, and within two and a half weeks we had to finish the spot. I was responsible for modeling and texturing the birds, rigging the penguin, and all the lighting, shading, and rendering.

Aurora Healthcare

After Effects and Maya

Aurora Healthcare wanted to add some visual eye candy to a commercial about their cardiac services. We at CRASH+SUES were tasked with creating a technical and clean look for the backgrounds of the spot. I was responsible for all the backgrounds in this spot. This commerical was fun to work on because I was able to integrate Maya and After Effects so heavily.

"What's in the Box"

Maya and 3Delight

"What's in the Box" is an Best Buy in-store ad that showcases what comes with popular products people buy. I was responsible for creating the intro and endings in Maya, CRASH+SUES' other animators took care of the rest. Matching the stop-motion style of the rest of the spot proved to be a fun challenge. Next time your in Best Buy look for a TV playing these ads!

Samsung Galaxy Tab

Make a video contest

Community contest site Zooppa hosted a contest to create your own Samsung Galaxy Tab commercial. For my entry I wanted to show off some of the powerful things you can do with the tab while keeping a techie vibe.

Bluephoria

Maya

I was the primary 3D artist for these Bluegrass Cellular spots. The client came to us asking for an fantastical world where cellphones are able to do almost anything. I created most of the 3D assets in the spot and rendered them out so they could be composited into the final shot. This commercial was a collaboration of almost everyone at CRASH+SUES. If you want to see the spot, it is still playing on thier website.

Ride+Rock

After Effects

This animated "save the date" for CRASH+SUES' event "RIDE+ROCK" was a collaboration between me and Steve Tenebrini. Steve created the logo for the event, and I brought it into After Effects to animate it.

Camera Study

Maya

I made this project to refine my lighting and shading skills. My goal was to create a shot that looked as photoreal as possible. The whole project, from modeling to final render took just over a week.

CGTuts+ video tutorials

Intermediate Maya tutorials

During the summer of 2009 I was approached by the Tuts+ Network to create a few video tutorials in Maya. These tutorials were used to kick off CGTuts+. I recorded two tutorials, one on dynamics, the other on lighting. These tutorials were geared for beginner and intermediate maya users. You can view these tutorials online at the CGTuts+ website.

Misc. Work

Maya and After Effects

These are just some projects or tests I've done in my freetime at CRASH+SUES. They were to much fun to keep hidden away.
